Shiki recommended a store to me that would have lots of things Ryu might like, so I went there to buy Ryu a present. Certainly, walking down the street with a large stuffed dinosaur sticking out of a paper bag attracted some odd looks on the walk back, but imagining Ryu's happy face put a spring in my step.

To all new students: congratulations on your admission. As the cherry blossoms bloomed late this year, some of you may have been able to enjoy your entrance ceremony while viewing the blossoms. To me, the cherry blossoms are a reminder to cherish the limited time we have, by recognizing that same beauty and fragility within ourselves.

Thought I smelled somethin' good in the kitchen; turns out Zen dug up some bamboo shoots with one of the neighbors! Servin' it up with rice is a good option, but stewed with sanchou they go nice with alcohol; can't wait to see what he does with 'em either way.
