What type of lifestyle do you lead?

Q.1

If you want to live life most efficiently, is it better to be more of a "morning person" or a "night person"?

Morning people
Saimon's Answer
I'm certainly a morning person. It's a natural matter of course, accounting to the fact that my lectures start early in the morning. When thesis deadlines are approaching, there are times when I will stay at my desk until late at night, but even in those cases, I still wake up early in the morning.
The sound of the beans being ground, the time that it takes to pour hot water; it's very much as though I wake up just for the sake of enjoying that one cup.
The Japanese langauge has many words to refer to moments at dawn: akatsuki, shinonome, akebono, reimei. We have words to distinguish between even the moments of such a fleeting time.
I think that's proof of just how many people have been moved over the ages by the morning hours.
Even setting aside the issue of efficiency, the time spent in a time that inspires so many words is surely a more enriching experience. Why don't you give getting up a little earlier a try tomorrow morning?
Shiki's Answer
I suppose I'm a morning person. I don't know if it's so much "efficient", but on days when I manage to wake up early in the morning, I feel like the day will be at least an okay one.
When I wake up, I check on the cacti, feed Kuro, and then I practice making rolled omelets while the Master prepares a bento. They're very difficult to roll, and they still fall apart, but recently he said I was doing an okay job.
Also, there's a cat that's always in the same place in the alleyway every morning when I'm on my way to school... At first, it would run away whenever I got anywhere close to it, but I've kept calling out to it, and it's started lifting its head in response recently. On days when I get to see it, I feel like my steps somehow get lighter. ... I wonder whether I should give it a name?

Night people

Yohei's Answer
I mean, obviously, I'm a night person. I open up the bar at night, so what point is there in wasting all my energy in the morning? Well... I say that, but I suppose things're different on days off. I'll warm up my motorcycle's engine and ride all the way out to the sea while it's still dark out. Road's deserted, sky's getting brighter-- it's real peaceful that time of day, it's nice.
Some days I'll have packed up my fishing rod, and other days I'm satisfied enough just to have gone for a ride and head straight home. Then I'll get back in the early afternoon, have a drink, and I'm already asleep by sunset. Those're the nights I get the best sleep by far.
Point is, who cares what's more "efficient"? Oughta just do whatever your body's naturally inclined to do.

??? people

Ryu's Answer
"Morning person"? "Night person"? Bzzzzt, both are wrong! The true correct answer is "Ryu-kun person"!
Waking up when you wanna wake up and sleeping when you wanna sleep... sleeping for three days and then staying awake for four days straight is okay-- in fact, it's perfect!
Well, Boss is a morning person, and Master's a night person, and Shikki's a morning person too... WAIT JUST A SECOND! That means that at Bar 4/7, there's alway someone awake 24 hours a da~y, isn't that a~wesome? And so Ryu-kun can sleep whenever he wants, and Kurobuchi says so too! Efficiency? Inefficiency? Hmmm, Ryu-kun doesn't really care! His vote is for doing whatever's more fun!
