Animedia December 2020 - cozmez Christmas interview
What's Up? Pararai [9th edition]Translator's note: This is a partial translation of the Paradox Live feature in the December 2020 issue of Animedia. I'm only translating the character interviews becasue I don't want to translate a bunch of multiple-year-old magazine copy.
Regarding Santa
Nayuta: Well, I suppose it is just about that time of year.
Kanata: Huh, it is. Hm, then doesn't that mean that old man is going to be coming around again?
Nayuta: Probably. I mean, what kind of person is Santa, anyway?
Kanata: He's like a weird, fat old man in a red suit with a big beard, right?
Nayuta: I know that, since there's pictures of him all over the place, but what else is there to him?
Kanata: He always gives a bunch of stuff away for free, so either he's probably really nice, or really stupid.
Nayuta: He's got a hell of a lot of nerve. Do you figure he really exists?
Kanata: Of course he does!!
Nayuta: Ah. You've really got opinions about this. I was just wondering.
A Christmas Memory
Kanata: Do you remember that time? When you collapsed.
Nayuta: It was that Christmas, right? The one right after we ran away from that facility?
Kanata: Sometime around then. We didn't have anywhere to stay or anything, and all that Christmas shit was so damn loud and bright, it was all super annoying.
Nayuta: Ah, yeah, I remember that. That was when I collapsed. We hadn't eaten anything in days.
Kanata: I started to panic. I tried running around everywhere asking everyone I could, but everyone just turned me away at the door. I couldn't find anything to eat no matter where I looked. Eventually, my own vision started getting darker, too. All I could think about was can someone please find some food for Nayuta right before I passed out.
Nayuta: I'm really sorry about that. You did all that for my sake.
Kanata: It's not something you should feel like you have to apologize for. Anyway, when I woke up, there was a boxed cake sitting next to us. We were able to eat that and it all worked out somehow.
Nayuta: Then the day after Christmas, it got a lot easier to find food.
Kanata: So I'm sure that old man, Santa, is the one who left that cake behind for us that day. No doubt about it.
Nayuta: ... ah. Well, I suppose if you say that, Kanata, then it must be true.
