Animedia January 2025 - GokuLuck Valentine's Character Interview

What's Up? Pararai [51st edition]
BoU round 1 is about to start! In this issue, we interviewed the members of GokuLuck. We'll talk about the upcoming battle and maybe even Valentine's Day!? Stay tuned!

Battle of Unity (henceforth BoU) is a team battle in which the units who have participated in the Paradox Live will be divided into two teams. The first match, themed "SURVIVE", will be between cozmez and GokuLuck. We can't wait to see what will happen when the two teams meet after they previously met in the finals of Road to Legend...
This month, we'll be having an interview with one of the participants of this hotly-anticipated battle, GokuLuck. It seems their trust in each other has strengthened a bit (... maybe) following their battle in Road to Legend. We'll be talking about their current situation, the upcoming battle, and even Valentine's Day!? It certainly seems that way! Let's get a glimpse of how GokuLuck are doing right now from their answers ♪

Getting ready for BoU?

Following their participation in Road to Legend, the members of GokuLuck are living on probation in their pre-fab housing. Their frustration is still mounting the same as ever; but even so, be it in daily life or in battles, it seems like they're caring for each other a little more than they did before...? Turning their frustration at losing Road to Legend into fighting spirit for Battle of Unity, they're making sure their preparations are impeccable.

Kaida Shion

Because people found his scaly skin creepy to look at, he's lived a very lonely life, but deep down he wants to be able to truly connect with other people. Mikoshiba calls him "Horndog".

Inukai Yuto

A prison guard who, despite his pacifistic attitude on the surface, conceals a far more savage personality. The inmate members of GokuLuck complain about him a lot. The type of person who always says what he wants to say, even if he has to stand up to his superiors.

Tosa Ryoga

A violent prisoner who used to be the gunman in a gang. He used to be friends with Ito Satsuki from Akan Yatsura. He has a compassionate side, and he has very strong feelings for those he considers his friends.

Mikoshiba Kenta

A genius hacker who uses his skills with impunity. A deeply cynical person who's quick to find flaws in other people, he knows his personality sucks and he has no intentions of changing. He does have a slightly soft spot for his allies, though.

On The Eve of BoU

~Valentine's and Status Updates~

An interview with the members of GokuLuck as the BoU showdown draws near! This month, we even got a slightly longer conversation in response to some questions.
Q: What's a memory you have relating to Valentine's Day?
Yuto: I don't really have any particular standout memories, but I once received some sweets from a nice lady in my neighborhood.
Ryoga: Back when I was a kid sometimes people gave me food. I was grateful but I didn't know what to give them in return.
Shion: Ah, I've never been good at that kind of thing. I always feel pretty uncomfortable with it whenever anyone says I'm their true love or anything like that, lol.
Kenta: I've got no memories and I don't care. If you're buying into a big sales scam that's orchestrated by the candy companies, you've already lost.
Q: What kind of person would you say is "your type"? This can be romantic, or as a friend, or just as a coworker.
Yuto: I tend to be a bit timid, so I get along best with people who are a bit more assertive who can help pull me forward.
Ryoga: Someone reliable who doesn't run their mouth.
Shion: I don't really have a type. Honestly, just about anyone is fine.
Kenta: What's it to you, creep?
Q: If you were to give Valentine's chocolate as a friend to one member of GokuLuck, who would you give it to?
Yuto: I'd like to give it to all of the members, since they put in so much hard work every day.
Ryoga: Shion. 'Cuz I smoke with him a lot.
Shion: Mikoshiba, I suppose. In a certain sense I owe him a lot. But I'm not really the chocolate-giving type.
Kenta: I want to make Inukai eat a rubber eraser by making him think it's chocolate.
Q: Out of the members of GokuLuck, who do you think has the most people who are interested in them?
Yuto: Whenever we do a live performance, a lot of fans call out to him, so I suppose it must be Kaida-kun?
Ryoga: Shion, right?
Shion: Well, maybe me. I think Ryoga could be a hit too, but he doesn't really know his way around romantic stuff. It's kind of a shame.
Kenta: Who gives a fuck? Probably the horndog.
Q: If the four of you in GokuLuck were tasked with making chocolate together, what do you think your job would be?
Yuto: I think I'd be in charge of things like getting the materials and overseeing the process. Oh, and cleaning up afterwards as well.
Ryoga: Just eating them.
Shion: Everything except eating them sounds like a pain.
Kenta: I'll give it a try on the condition that I'm allowed to put whatever I want inside of the chococlates.
Q: What's something that you like or admire about cozmez?
Yuto: I admire their approach to music. I think it's wonderful that they've managed to take the troubles they've faced in life and turn them into music; that's the goal of our rehabiliation program, after all.
Ryoga: The look in their eyes. They've got the hardened vibe to them that you only get from living through some shit.
Shion: Their faces? They've got pretty cute faces, but there's also a bit of a dangerous edge to them, which I think is pretty nice.
Kenta: How satisfying it's gonna be to crush them. Like, I've never really thought of them as being superior to me, but it'll be real satisfying to see public opinion turn when we win.
Q: What about BoU are you looking forward to?
Yuto: I hope to win the battle and share in the joy with all of the other units on our team!
Ryoga: I want to eat them alive with my rap.
Shion: Maybe I'll meet some cute girl at the venue again.
Kenta: I'm looking forward to winning and seeing the look of despair on our opponents' faces.
Q: What's something that you'd like everyone to pay attention to on your new song for BoU?
Shion: Even if I say to pay attention to any particular thing, I feel like it's should be more like, "will you even have the time to tear your attention away?".
Ryoga: If you look away for an instant you'll be swallowed whole.
Kenta: I'm not going to tell you what parts you should pay attention to. Our war started well before the track does.
Yuto: ... well, I suppose that's that. Everyone put a lot of heart and soul into their lyrics, so please don't miss out on listening to the entire song. But I feel like that's not really a satisfactory answer to the question, so maybe everyone can talk about what kind of mental image they had in mind while working on their lyrics?
Ryoga: ... it's like the battle theme says. I've survived up until now using rap. Now rap is my weapon. It doesn't matter if people talk shit, I'll shut them up with my rap. That's what I wrote.
Kenta: Well, I don't need to worry about all that "survival" stuff, since I'm the chosen one and all. There's no point in passing judgment on all the trash around me. It'll all get weeded out on its own. The idea is to give a bit of re-education to all the shitty scrubs who think they can come at me.
Shion: I wouldn't say I'm really the "survival" type, so much as I just try to avoid trouble, so I've mostly just let it slide when people give me weird looks... but ever since I've started rapping, I've been saying what I feel without mincing words. This time it's not just all about the sex appeal, there are some serious parts too, so be sure to listen for that.
Yuto: Thank you very much. As for me... I suppose it was something like "you have to survive your own life through your own power". I hope all of the heads will take note and enjoy it.
Q: Since the four of you are cohabitating, what's something that you'd be happy to have introduced to your living quarters this season?
Yuto: I think it would be nice to have a kotatsu.
Ryoga: Don't want anything. Just let us turn up the heater.
Shion: A humidifier. The air is so dry, it's horrible.
Kenta: I don't give a fuck if it's this season or any season. Hurry up and get us private rooms.
Q: What's something you'll remember that happened over this New Years'?
Yuto: I did some major New Year's cleaning. I found some personal affects that I hadn't been aware of and confiscated them.
Ryoga: Rations were bigger than usual. Still wasn't enough food, though.
Shion: Well, I was pretty busy over the holiday. ... but don't ask why I was so busy, lol.
Kenta: Played FPS games.
Q: What's something that's happened to GokuLuck recently?
Kenta: Well, there was that thing Ryoga did.
Shion: Ah, yes, that. He broke the bed.
Yuto: Now that you mention it, yes, that did happen.
Ryoga: Not my fault. It wasn't like I was trying to break it.
Kenta: He's just a natural-born crusher, lol
Shion: Even if you were having a nightmare, I still think it's really out of the ordinary that you would simply tear through the slats of the bed frame with that much force.
Yuto: Tosa-kun is on the larger side, of course, but I think the bed slats were just naturally growing worn out with time, so I suppose it's not really anyone's fault.
Kenta: Hey, if Shion weren't on the top bunk, do you think that Ryoga would have crushed him flat when he fell?
Shion: I shudder to imagine it.
Ryoga: It's supposed to be your job to take care of the stuff in the prefab, Inukai. Be more careful about it.
Yuto: I don't really have an argument for that...
Shion: Well, I suppose it all worked out for the best in the end. We got to replace the bedframes with new ones, after all.
Kenta: Hey, that's right. Why don't we just completely wreck the entire prefab? Maybe then they'll let us move somewhere that's less of a dump.
Ryoga: Knock it off. All you'll end up doing is flipping Inukai's switch and then it'll be an even more massive pain in the ass for all of us.
Yuto: Thank you for your concern, Tosa-kun... I'll do my best to keep on top of improving our living environment.
